On June 19, 2026, as part of the AMTS “New Quality Productive Forces Community” Global Go-Sailing Program, the 2026 Go-Sailing ASEAN New Energy Vehicle Ecosystem Linkage Tour and Thailand Automotive Engineering Summit featured a dedicated factory visit program in Thailand.
Led by senior representatives from the New Quality Productive Forces Community, AMTS, COMAU, Weber, Yeger Industrial Automation and Fuxi Precision Machinery, the delegation visited Pacific Precision Forging Technology (Thailand) Co., Ltd. and Siemens Thailand within one day.
The visits offered a holistic look at Thailand’s automotive manufacturing ecosystem from two insightful perspectives: the overseas expansion of Chinese manufacturing and the localization of global industrial technologies. By engaging directly with both a Chinese precision manufacturing company operating in Thailand and an international technology leader serving the regional market, the delegation explored how ASEAN is becoming an increasingly important destination for automotive manufacturing, supply chain collaboration and intelligent production upgrades.
Through this program, AMTS continues to extend its role beyond the exhibition floor, aiming to create a bridge between China’s automotive engineering capabilities and emerging opportunities in global markets.
01 Pacific Precision Forging A Case Study of Chinese Local Manufacturing Going Global
At 10:00 a.m. on June 19, the delegation arrived at its first stop: Pacific Precision Forging Technology (Thailand) Co., Ltd., located in Pinthong Industrial Estate, Rayong, Thailand.
Established in July 2023, the Thailand plant is the first overseas manufacturing base of Jiangsu Pacific Precision Forging Co., Ltd. It represents a key example of Chinese precision forging companies expanding into overseas markets. The company focuses on critical automotive components such as precision-forged gears, differential gears and gear shafts for new energy vehicle e-drive systems.
Just two days before the visit, on June 17, 2026, Pacific Precision Forging’s Thailand intelligent manufacturing base officially commenced production. The AMTS delegation was among the first Chinese industry delegations to visit the facility after its commissioning.
According to the company, the first phase of the plant has a planned building area of approximately 38,000 square meters, covering complete production workshops for machining, forging and heat treatment. The company has also made an additional investment of RMB 250 million for its second-phase project, which will further expand core production capacity for new energy vehicles, construction machinery gear shafts and robot joint components.
During the visit, Qian Hougang, Executive Vice President of Pacific Precision Forging Technology (Thailand) Co., Ltd., introduced the development of both the parent company and the Thailand operation. Founded in 1992, the parent company has been deeply engaged in precision forging for more than three decades, with total assets of RMB 2 billion and 2,294 employees. The Thailand plant is designed to better serve local and regional markets while strengthening the company’s global manufacturing and delivery capabilities.
The delegation toured the production floor, including precision forging, machining and heat treatment lines, as well as the office area of around 1,500 square meters and production area of nearly 11,000 square meters. The visit provided a close view of how a Chinese automotive component manufacturer is transferring mature engineering capabilities, process experience and quality management systems into an overseas manufacturing environment.
The discussion also touched on the practical considerations behind overseas expansion. As Chinese companies accelerate their global footprint, overseas manufacturing requires more than capacity relocation. It also involves careful adaptation to local labor conditions, supply chain maturity, customer requirements and operating costs. Pacific Precision Forging’s Thailand practice therefore offers a concrete reference for understanding how Chinese manufacturers assess regional opportunities, manage localization challenges and build sustainable overseas operations.
Rayong has become an increasingly important industrial base for Chinese automotive companies and supporting suppliers in Thailand. With Chinese automakers and related manufacturing enterprises continuing to expand in the region, the local ecosystem is expected to further strengthen its role in ASEAN’s automotive supply chain.
Through this factory visit, the delegation gained first-hand insights into how Chinese precision manufacturing companies are building production and delivery capabilities for Southeast Asia and global markets. From capacity deployment and process replication to local supply chain coordination and market expansion, Pacific Precision Forging provides a vivid example of China’s automotive manufacturing industry moving from product exports toward deeper industrial globalization.
02 Siemens Thailand The Localization of Global Technologies Under A Southeast Asia’s Manufacturing Landscape
In the afternoon, the delegation visited Siemens Thailand at True Digital Park in Bangkok and held an in-depth exchange with Joseph Kong, Head of Digital Industries at Siemens Thailand, and his team.
Siemens has been deeply engaged in the Thai market for many years, supporting the country’s manufacturing upgrade through industrial automation, digital enterprise solutions, smart infrastructure and related technologies. During the meeting, both sides discussed the practical needs of factories in Thailand, including automation upgrades, production line optimization, equipment integration, data connectivity and the implementation of intelligent manufacturing. The discussion provided a closer look at how global technology providers adapt advanced industrial solutions to local market conditions, and how Thailand’s manufacturing sector is moving toward more efficient, digitalized and intelligent production.
During the exchange, both sides discussed how factories in Thailand are addressing practical needs in automation upgrades, production line optimization, equipment integration, data connectivity and intelligent manufacturing implementation.
With global supply chains being restructured and Southeast Asia emerging as a key manufacturing hub, the discussion highlighted the importance of localized teams, engineering services and partner networks for global technology companies operating in the region. These capabilities are essential for understanding local factory construction, production operations and long-term service needs.
Joseph Kong noted that Thailand’s manufacturing sector is accelerating its transition toward higher efficiency, digitalization and intelligent production. Siemens is committed to supporting this transformation through digital solutions that cover the full value chain and contribute to the sustainable development of Thai manufacturing.
The Siemens Thailand team also shared that its business network can extend beyond Thailand to neighboring markets such as Vietnam, Myanmar and Laos, positioning Siemens Thailand as a regional bridge for Southeast Asia. The team expressed its willingness to support Chinese companies in areas such as local supply chain connection, solution and service partner referrals, localized guidance, and professional consulting on carbon footprint and sustainable growth.
During the meeting, representatives from COMAU and Siemens Thailand also discussed potential cooperation opportunities. In addition, AMTS and Siemens Thailand reached an initial understanding to continue exploring automotive engineering activities in Thailand in 2027, with Siemens Thailand expected to provide local support.
That evening, the delegation and the Siemens Thailand team continued their discussion over dinner, further exchanging views on potential cooperation opportunities in the Thai market.
